Product information
Long racemes of pristine white, pea-like flowers cascade gracefully from Thompson & Morgan Wisteria Floribunda ‘Alba’. Each raceme reaches up to 45cm (18″) long with a heavenly sweet scent. This elegant climber is a cottage garden classic, earning its RHS AGM through sheer flower power and superb garden performance. The vigorous twining stems of Wisteria floribunda ‘Alba’ are cloaked in attractive pinnate foliage throughout summer, which turns to buttery yellow in autumn. When growing Thompson & Morgan Wisteria Floribunda ‘Alba’, choose a sunny or semi shaded site in any moist, well-drained soil. Choose a sheltered position as wisteria flower buds can be damaged by hard spring frosts. Prior to planting add plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost to the soil. Provide the twining stems with an appropriate and sturdy support, such as strong trellis or wires attached to walls and pergolas. Standard wisterias will especially need a sturdy support when grown to protect the head from damage by strong winds.Feed and water regularly until fully established. In autumn or spring, apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant. Prune wisteria in July and again in February. During the first two years, prune wisteria to create a framework of permanent stems. Tie in selected lateral shoots to sturdy supports and cut back unwanted growth. Once the desired framework has been created, continue pruning wisteria twice a year to contain the plants growth within its allotted space.Caution: All other parts of wisteria are poisonous.Ideal For: Patio, Cottage Gardens, Scented Gardens, Specimen PlantHardiness: HardyPosition In: Sun or semi shadeHeight: Up to 800cmSpread: Up to 400cmImages shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity.
