Product information
Carex riparia, commonly known as greater pond sedge, is a robust, clump-forming perennial with long, arching green leaves forming dense tussocks along pond edges and wet soils. In summer, it produces inconspicuous greenish-brown flower spikes that rise above the foliage, providing texture and structure rather than showy blooms. This species is valuable for wetland ecosystems, offering cover for small wildlife and stabilising pond margins and damp soils. Its upright, vigorous habit makes it ideal for naturalistic water gardens, pond edges, and wetland planting schemes.
